About the author

Author Svetlana Rodina

I write contemporary novels for women who grew up with fairy tales and then encountered a life where princes do not always come to the rescue, playing the right roles does not guarantee happiness, and no one promises a “happily ever after.”

I am interested in taking stories familiar from childhood and bringing them into today’s world. In my books, Little Red Riding Hood pieces together the history of her own family, Cinderella stops adjusting her life to other people’s expectations, and Sleeping Beauty is awakened not by a man, but by artificial intelligence.

These are not retellings of fairy tales. I write about the age when much has already happened: the children have grown up, relationships have changed, familiar work has stopped being a source of support—and the central question is unexpectedly still ahead: what in this life is truly mine?

My heroines are women to whom no one brings a ready-made happy ending. They have to decide for themselves what to leave in their lives and what they no longer want to carry with them.

The fairy tales are over. Life goes on.
